Australian Bus + Coach Show

"The venue and facilities set the stage for a world class event and saw the largest bus and coach industry exhibition ever seen in NSW, and Australia, with a wide range of national and international displays covering over 15,000 square metres, all under the one roof. The high level of professionalism and service provided by Sydney Showground to BusNSW, exhibitors, and show attendees ensured the event was a great success."

- Darryl Mellish, Executive Director, BusNSW

Exhibition case study

The Australian Bus + Coach Show is the premier exhibition for the nation's bus and coach industry. Organised by BusNSW, the two-day event showcases the latest products and services for the sector, and attracts operators, suppliers, government and bus enthusiasts from across Australia and internationally.

Key challenges

The show required venues with the scale and versatility to co-locate a diverse range of elements including exhibition booths, product launches, workshops, a gala dinner and bus demonstration drives. Another key challenge was to bump-in approximately 80 buses and coaches and 130 booths on a single day.

What we did

The Dome and Exhibition Halls, which provide a total of 15,600 square metres, were selected as the principal venues for the event. We worked with the client to help them utilise our entire precinct for demonstration drives and rides on vintage double decker buses. We liaised with another exhibition organiser to allow BusNSW access to mark up the floor and complete most of the rigging well ahead of schedule. Two extra-large loading docks were run concurrently, which further reduced the time spent moving in. During the exhibition itself, our event and catering staff organised a fast, seamless turnaround of Exhibition Hall 4 from gala dinner to industry awards.

The Australian Bus + Coach Show was deemed a great success by BusNSW. Over 3,000 people attended, making it the largest bus and coach event ever held in Australia. The show gained the support of Transport for NSW, with its staff demonstrating the Opal Card and providing advice. The state's Minister for Transport, attended the gala dinner. Many suppliers reported that the show helped them to generate a number of sales and leads.
