Spotless Stadium ready for first AFL Final

Posted on : 19 September 2016

Spotless Stadium is set to host its first ever AFL final when the GWS Giants take on the Western Bulldogs this Saturday at 5:15pm.

Having called Spotless Stadium home since their inaugural AFL season in 2012, the 23,500 seat, world-class stadium has played a successful role in the GWS Giants expansion, including being ranked the number one AFL stadium for fan experience in 2015.

As the newest AFL team establishing themselves in a non-traditional AFL market, the GWS Giants have placed a high importance on engaging closely with fans to drive strong attendance and continued fan growth.

Sydney Showground General Manager, Peter Thorpe, said it has been an unbelievable year for the venue, with sell-out games for BBL and AFL, in addition to a season victory for the Sydney Thunder.

"We witnessed an incredible season for the Thunder in the BBL, and we're hopeful the GWS Giants can emulate their success in the weeks to come," he said.

"We're proud to be the home venue of such an incredible club, which has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years, both on and off-field.

"Spotless Stadium holds the 2015 title for the AFL's best fan experience venue, and along with the silverware Sydney Thunder achieved this year, we're hopeful GWS Giants can go all the way too and claim their deserved AFL Premiership," Peter Thorpe said.

Festivities will start outside the Stadium this Saturday from 12pm at the Giants Zone Southee Bar, while gates will open at 3:30pm before a 5:15pm first bounce. A capacity crowd is expected and fans are encouraged to arrive early and catch public transport.
