Insights - when size matters

Last month Volvo held their truck launch, booked for the Southee Complex at the Sydney Showground, including a conference, product display and sit down lunch all part of the big event. Everything was going to plan until the trucks arrived – they were taller than the original measurements and couldn’t clear the doors into the Southee Complex. After all, the trucks were the reason for the event – so this was a challenge! Luckily, Sydney Showground offers flexible venues with combined indoor and outdoor space. The Southee Lawns, right outside the Southee Complex, were the perfect place to present the massive trucks, with the floor to ceiling doors open to the lawns.

Volvo quickly organised for some smaller trucks to drive inside the pavilion – maximizing the event by showing off more of their products than originally planned. Conference attendees could wander around the trucks inside and outside before enjoying lunch overlooking Volvo’s latest product line.

Southee Complex

A dramatic building with a sweeping quarter circle design, the Southee Complex is perfect for a gala dinner, cocktails or a corporate banquet. With its seminar and break-out rooms, the building is also an excellent conference venue. The adjacent courtyard is popular for pre-dinner drinks, entertainment, or as an ideal setting for a gourmet BBQ. The Southee Complex has 1,360 square metres of floor space and is situated on the two main access roads to The Showground.
