Last month we launched the four key pillars that set Sydney Showground apart: Great Freedom; A Unique Partnership; Central Location; and Inspired Catering.
Food and wine is very much at the forefront of everyone’s minds – it’s everywhere we look and it’s shaping our culture in ways we never expected. It’s never been more important and at Sydney Showground we call this Inspired Catering.
We call it that because the catering we provide is vast and varied. Last month alone has proven the breadth of our catering. We hosted the NSW Farmers Conference where our team created amazing original dishes to showcase some of NSW’s top producers in a regional food fair. Tim Browne, our Executive Chef, is very passionate about what he does and took it upon himself to create an ice carving to add to the night and keep the oysters in raspberry vinegar cool. That’s inspired if you ask me.
The coveted President’s Medal was presented in July to Australia’s top producer at an evening filled with incredible food and wine. The menu was designed in collaboration with some of Sydney’s top food and wine connoisseurs such as our very own chef Tim Browne, Justin North of Bécasse and renowned food writer Lyndey Milan. Catering for large events is something we do exceptionally well. As many of you know we run over 30 outlets during the Easter Show ranging from fine dining experiences in Jamieson to fish and chips. One of the many things we do well is listen to our clients and literally cater to their needs. This may be by providing food and beverage within a budget or within a certain style eg. buffet, barbeque, inside or outside. Cooking up a storm at ABEE
Sydney Showground Executive Chef, Tim Browne cooked up a storm alongside ABC Weekends’ Presenter Simon Marnie, for a hungry audience at ABEE in July.
The demonstration featured Good fortune bay barramundi, Huon salmon caviar, fresh coconut, ruby grapefruit, Thai caramel and cashew nuts. With the aroma quickly making its way through the halls, there there was not one seat nor one sample remaining at the end of the demo.

Terry Oomens joins our team!
Terry Oomens has been appointed Director of Sales at Sydney Showground.
Mr Oomens brings to the team a wealth of knowledge with over 25 years experience within the hotel and hospitality industry both in Australia and the US.
His previous role as Group Sales Director at Toga Hospitality, and formerly a long standing career with Hilton Hotels Corporation, will complement the skills and experience of the team.

Barbeques Galore Spring Product Launch
Barbeques Galore’s Spring product launch, held in the Southee Complex, was a truly inspired event featuring a Master Chef style cook-off between their sales and management teams with gourmet ingredients provided by Sydney Showground.
