Spring forward into 2010

Now that spring has arrived and we’re well into the new financial year, it’s time to think about your forthcoming events for 2010.

Whilst the economic downturn seems to be easing, event planners are particularly budget conscious at the moment.

With this in mind, we recently joined with Executive PA Magazine to give PAs a chance to experience all Sydney Showground has to offer. PA’s were invited to attend educational sessions on teambuilding in tough times, and how to get more event for your dollar, as well as see the great venues here at Sydney Showground. You can read more about the successful event later in this issue.

I hope you enjoy this issue, you'll get to read about highly-exciting World Masters Games that are coming up at Sydney Showground, and the recent successful NSW Farmers annual conference. By popular demand we've included a recipe from our Executive Chef Tim Browne - try it, it's delicious.

Finally I'd like to congratulate Rosie Daly from Sunbeam Ltd who has won dinner for eight on us by recently booking an exhibition at Sydney Showground - we look forward to seeing Sunbeam here soon.

World Masters Games coming soon

Sydney Showground is set to play an integral part in the world's largest multi-sport event, the World Masters Games, which come to Sydney from       10 - 18 October 2009.

More than 28,000 competitors will take part, and Sydney Showground's diverse venues will be used for registration for all competitors, officials and volunteers, to host world championship weightlifting, and a Health and Lifestyle Expo. Sydney Showground's iconic Dome will also host a thank you function for the thousands of volunteers working hard to ensure the success of the games.

NSW Farmers Conference

Sydney Showground recently hosted the 2009 NSW Farmers annual conference. 400 delegates packed out the three-day conference, which also featured a regional food fair, and gala awards night to honour the NSW Farmer of the Year.

Sydney Showground Executive Chef Tim Browne recently attended the Australian Business Events Expo and treated the crowds to this delicious dish, made using Sydney Royal medal winning produce.

Hayley Ellis

Hayley Ellis has recently been appointed as Coordinator, National Accounts for Sydney Showground. Hayley previously worked with the Events team here at Sydney Showground so understands perfectly how to plan and organise a successful event.

Hayley will be working with some of our biggest clients, including the Sydney Tattoo and Body Art Expo and the hugely popular Bead and Gem Show.
