It is with great pleasure that I welcome Karen Bolinger to the position of General Manager - Sales and Marketing, commencing early September.

Karen has many years of Sales & Marketing experience in the event industry and will be a valuable addition to our team.

Not only will Karen be managing all areas of Sales and Marketing for Sydney Showground, but she will also be kept very busy overseeing all marketing activities for they Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Sydney Royal brand and other business divisions that are part of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.

You will be hearing more from Karen in coming months, but for now I invite you to enjoy the September/October edition of Eventful Thinking.

WELCOME KRISTINE SHEPHERD
Business Development Coordinator

Kristine recently joined the Sydney Showground team as Business Development Coordinator. With a background and passion for organising charity events and product launches, Kristine's enthusiasm will be a great asset to the team.
Kristine is the first point of contact for clients wanting to hold their event at Sydney Showground and working with clients to ascertain their venue and catering needs and any other aspects that ensure their event will be a success.
Working closely with the Sales and Business Development team, she also provides sales support and other activities that establish future sales potential for Sydney Showground.

WORLD YOUTH DAY
Sydney Showground plays host to thousands of Pilgrims

Sydney Showground recently supported the World Youth Day festivities by offering accommodation to as many as 13,000 Pilgrims on any one given night before, during and after the official celebrations held across the city.
With so many visitors on site at one time, Sydney Showground was able to provide shelter in more than 20 venues across the 30 hectare site.
In addition to these sleeping arrangements, onsite and portable bathroom facilities were available, space for religious services was provided and the Asian Youth Festival was held including a free concert for over 1,000 people.
Alongside the massive security, safety and logistical support required Sydney Showground also managed the daily distribution of food to the Pilgrims - over 82,000 breakfasts, 12,000 lunch packs, 15,000 suppers and 4000 back packs were distributed. A huge undertaking but one very special opportunity to be involved in this global event.

Celebrating Champion and Gold Medal winners

The Sydney Royal series of Wine, Dairy and Fine Food Shows are organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW located at Sydney Showground.
Following the Spring series of competitions being held in September, Sydney Showground will host the Sydney Royal Dinner. It is an opportuntity to meet Sydney Royal Award Winning producers and taste their products as part of a menu prepared by the award winning catering team at Sydney Showground.
This event is open to the public but seats are limited so it is recommended you book early.

KIRAVANU
MLC Childrens Opera

Kiravanu is the latest of MLC School's ambitious music projects - a full school children's opera being held in the Amphitheatre, Sydney Showground at 7pm on 16 & 17 September. It is a uniquely accessible opera written for children and performed by children.
