A NEW SUBURB FOR SYDNEY?
Since 2002, The Sydney Olympic Park Authority has developed Sydney Olympic Park to become a place of constant improvement and activity. Major Australian businesses have made it their new home, restaurants and shops have opened to busy crowds and the area has developed into an ‘urban hub’ within the suburb of Homebush Bay.
To better meet the growing needs of the Sydney Olympic Park community, SOPA has requested that the Geographical Names Board of NSW consider officially recognising it as a suburb in its own right.
The status change will help Sydney Olympic Park plan for its already burgeoning outlook. Major development is expected to increase, with planning for the future incorporating 1.4 million square metres of new development. This has already begin with the first residential development scheduled to commence later this year.
The Geographical Names board is expected to make a decision once it has considered public submissions. We’ll let you know the results as soon as a final determination is announced.
