Posted on : 06 August 2019

Sydney Showground has been recognised for its outstanding work in events and again named a National Finalists in the 2019 Australian Event Awards for ‘Best Achievement in Venue Management’.

Taking home the accolade in 2018, the venue has since hosted 140 national and international exhibitions, corporate dinners, sporting events, music festivals and tradeshows during the qualifying period including a record-breaking summer.

“This nomination is a true testament to the hard work and collaboration of our staff who continue to go above and beyond for clients,” says Sydney Showground General Manager, Peter Thorpe.

“Our team aims to deliver the best event experiences in Australia, and we believe that starts with building strong relationships with our clients and offering innovative solutions.”

It’s been a big year for Sydney Showground including highlights such as the HSBC Sydney 7s Festival, Invictus Games House, X Games and RnB Friday’s Live bringing the venue to life.

Following a rigorous first round of judging by event industry leaders and experts around Australia, Sydney Showground’s place amongst the National Finalists has the weight of the industry behind it.

Entries are judged on all aspects of the achievement including innovation, best practice and sustainability as well as the achievement’s contribution to events and the difficulties encountered in executing it.

“The Australian Events industry has been a world-leader for many years now and this year’s achievements demonstrate why. The skill, determination and innovation displayed by all the finalists is remarkable,” says Co-Chair of the Event Awards Judging Panel, Peter Rim AM.

“They are to be congratulated for not being content to rest on their professional laurels, but for pushing the boundaries of achievement and looking for new and more spectacular ways to put on their respective shows.”

Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at a lavish Awards Ceremony on 18 September at Optus Stadium, Perth.
