ENGIE Helps AFL Sydney Derby Go Green

ENGIE ANZ will power the GIANTS through the first GreenPower Game in NSW in AFL history, adding a new dimension to the club partnership and reaffirming their shared commitment to the clean energy transition.

ENGIE ANZ Executive General Manager - Retail, Andrea Bernard, said the energy company was excited to power the GIANTS important Round 20 Sydney derby with the Swans on Friday 25 July at ENGIE Stadium with government accredited GreenPower.

“All the electricity used at ENGIE Stadium on the day of the game – from floodlights to sirens and scoreboards – will be matched with investment in renewable energy assets that feed renewable power into the grid,” Ms Bernard said.

“We’re pleased to take our support for the GIANTS to the next level, as they try to lock in a finals spot.

“Our latest collaboration with the GIANTS shares the benefits of GreenPower - we’ll match the electricity used at ENGIE Stadium during the game with accredited renewable energy sources, so every mark, behind and goal on the night will be in support of Australia’s clean energy sector.”

“ENGIE is a major global player in the energy transition and in Australia we have committed to developing 3GW of installed renewable energy by 2030 supported by a suite of large scale batteries.”

“As this competitive AFL season comes down to the wire, we wish the GIANTS well in their fight for a finals spot and we’re proud to be backing them,” Ms Bernard said.

GIANTS Chief Executive Officer, David Matthews said, “We’re thrilled to partner with ENGIE in delivering the GreenPower Game against the Swans.

“To be at the forefront of sustainability for the AFL in NSW is a great outcome for our club and for us to have players like Toby Greene leading the charge is a great testament of the GIANTS people. “I’m immensely proud that our playing group have such a hand in leading initiatives like these,” Mr Matthews said.
