Sydney Showground makes sustainable events more accessible with free climate conscious event calculator.

Posted on 29th October 2025

Premium event venue Sydney Showground and leading Net Zero consultancy Clima have celebrated the extension of the venue’s Climate Conscious Events (CCE) program by making sustainable events even more achievable through a new, free Sydney Showground Event Carbon Calculator (CCE calculator).

The new CCE calculator will generate a high-level carbon footprint of clients’ events in under 10 minutes, using only essential client data and providing quick insights.

Designed to support client needs for a fast and user-friendly tool, the new calculator will be easily accessible via the Sydney Showground website.

Sydney Showground General Manager Darryl Jeffrey says the venue couldn’t be happier with the outcomes of its partnership with Clima and the real difference it is making in event sustainability.

“As a venue, we are not just focused on events. We’re focused on hosting them responsibly. So, extending our Climate Conscious Events program was the natural next step in our mission to support measurable, meaningful climate action in the event space,” shared Jeffrey.

“Partnering with Clima has empowered our clients to begin their sustainability journey with confidence and ease; and what better way to celebrate this progress than by launching a new, free CCE calculator to make sustainability even more accessible.”

Since launching its Climate Conscious Program, Sydney Showground has seen strong client engagement with the program and even hosted Australia’s first carbon-neutral cricket match with Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium.

The venue’s renewed partnership with Clima provides the added opportunity to invest in an audit-ready climate report package. Clients are provided with a comprehensive report that dissects the event’s climate impact, from recycling to water usage, and provides a list of practical changes or offset options to make their event more sustainable.

Moving forward, Sydney Showground and Clima are committed to evolving the CCE program to ensure it best facilitates client events and needs. This includes offering optional pathways to support biodiversity conservation, circular economy initiatives and plastic pollution reduction in collaboration with trusted environmental partners.

Highlights from the first 12 months:

  • Hosted Australia’s first carbon-neutral cricket match with Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium
  • Collectively, over 2,000 tonnes of carbon emissions were calculated.
  • Sydney Showground implemented 9 initiatives to reduce event emissions for its clients, such as the implementation of energy-efficient lighting systems, lowering kWh, and reducing its carbon footprint.
